Have a 2018 430i 'vert for a week, AMA?

I’ve got this as a rental for the next week. The steering is a bit vague but much better than the 2014 3 Series I drove. The engine is super smooth and the power delivery is addictive. Had a nice day of weather in NYC on Saturday and took the top down while smoking a Cuban.

I am definitely a believer when it comes to BMWs. Putting this in Sport+, disabling DSC and putting the gear in S makes for a very tail-happy, engaging ride. I was grinning from ear to ear, I can’t wait to leave work and drive it.

Yea youtube provided the picture (noted it in the caption). I tried to take a picture of it this morning but I was in a rush. Same spec, just black interior instead of tan.

Kinda sad that I am not the only one who thought the steering was vauge. Not sure what rack they switched to but my E92 feels like a complete night and day difference. The interior and idrive system of the new car definitely are a step forward though.

Yeah it’s vague but not as bad as the 2014 3 Series I had for a week. I think if it had the dynamic handling package or whatever they call it and M-Sport the steering would be heavier especially in Sport+ mode. That said, once you are used to it you can really whip this thing around with ease.

That was my impression as well. It’s getting better than when the F30 first came out. The steering in the M3/4 was actually pretty good. Not as good as my E90, but it’s getting better.

What diplodicus said, it’s one reason I got an E92, I wanted that hydraulic power steering, and the N/A I6.

Way better. I think whatever package adds more weight to the steering when you change the drive mode is the one I would want. In this car Comfort to Sport+ changes the steering just a little bit but in the 2014 3GT it changed it a lot.

Now I need to try an I6 BMW then a V8!

After driving both the new C and the new E, I’m kind of over the new Benz cars. Their T4 engines are nowhere near as good as BMW’s 4 pots and it doesn’t look like the inline 6 engines will make it into the C/E sedans until 2020.

I thought I wanted a CPO E (2014-2016) but I have a feeling a comparable 5 series would be twice as fun and infinitely more tuneable.
